Feast Your Eyes on the Spider...

~*~*~
Book IV of the Desert Princes of Jikkar

He vowed never to love again. Then he met her.

Amani Bantish has been passed over five times for marriage. She fears she has no hope for a husband until finally, the Spider Prince accepts her as his bride. Not for love, but to bear him an heir.

Two years ago, Ziyad Bihar lost his first wife, Karis, and their unborn son under the hooves of a raider’s horse. No one else could possibly compare to the woman he’d once loved, therefore his new bride will not be his princess.

But Ziyad cannot deny that the more he gets to know Amani, the more he fantasizes about his minx of a wife. Yet his loyalty to Karis pulls him deeper into his despair. When Amani’s life is threatened by the very man responsible for Karis’s death, Ziyad realizes he must fight for the woman he loves, or risk losing it all again.

This title is erotic.

Coming to Carnal Passions February 2011!

The Spider is my favorite prince in the Golden Desert.  And I absolutely LOVE his cover!  His colors are black and silver.  I ADORE this book.  I cannot wait for it's release.  I know you'll adore it too!

The Desert Princes Are Now Complete

I have finished THE JACKAL PRINCE!  It made me cry, this ending, but I love it so.  This series as a whole is what I believe to be my best work.  Ever.  The books are sweeping and epic, the love is touching and emotional, and the covers kick ass.

This series is in hot competition with B*E*A*S*T*, my other proud body of work.  I have to say, however, as an author and a reader, I think the princes are my favorite.  Don't get me wrong, I have mad love for my BEASTie Boys, but my princes... they're so exotic and intense and just... damn sexy.  I love the setting, the feel, and the uniqueness of the plots themselves.

There are a handful of authors who have tackled the hot desert sands to write their romances.  I know Bonnie Vanak is one of them, who wrote about English lords riding with sheikhs in Egypt.  A few others have written about pharaohs or archeologists who dig up pharaohs.  A couple of these authors deal with sheikhs themselves in a setting like mine, and some deal with sheikhs as rich businessmen who own private jets and glorious palaces.

But am I the first to write a "sheikh-like" series on another planet altogether?  I think so.  If I'm wrong, feel free to let me know of the book/series.  I'm always on the lookout for exotic romances.

My only hope now is that these books live up to the hype.  I hope you love them as much as I do, and I hope you enjoy JACKAL's blurb!

Almost Finished with THE JACKAL PRINCE

It's about that time to start thinking about my blurb and synopsis for THE JACKAL PRINCE, book V in this series.  I'm almost done!  I have *maybe* 5K left to write, which sounds like a lot, but not if I put my back into it.  I'm figuring I can finish by the end of the week, possibly the weekend.

Once I get the blurb written, I'll share it here on this blog first.  It will be bittersweet for me to leave Jikkar behind.  But I can't be prouder of this series.  I honestly believe the Desert Princes of Jikkar is my best work to date.  I love these guys, and not just because they're hottie desert princes.  :P

I love them because they're so magnetic, so in control, yet so out of control at the same time.  They love their women to the point of pain in some instances, and I've tried to capture that raw emotion as best I can.  I'm excited to do my final read through of JACKAL before I submit it, because I've been avoiding going back and re-reading scenes.  With this book, I've just been plowing ahead, so hopefully, it will be "fresh" for me to go back and try to catch any errors/plot holes.

Jackal isn't quite as in-your-face alpha as some of the other princes, he's more of the devoted you-before-me type.  And I love him for that.  He's a great prince to end the series with, and I couldn't be happier to almost be finished.

Guess What I Saw?!

The mock-up for THE FALCON PRINCE's cover! I can't share it yet until it's approved, but it's GORGEOUS.  Obviously, it has green tones, since green is Khalil's color.  It shows his oasis, and his scars! I'm so happy the cover artist added his scars.  He's turned away from the "camera", so all you see is his back, but I love it, because it visually shows you his vulnerability with regards to those scars.

Check out his book's blurb page for a refresher on what this book is about:

and I'll show off the cover as soon as I can!  YAY!

Just Broke Ground on Final Prince Book

Last week, I began THE JACKAL PRINCE, Book V of my Desert Princes.  Finishing this series will be bittersweet for me, but wow has it been a fun ride.  I've been telling people the princes are like CRACK!  Because one you start 'em, you ain't never goin' back!

Apparently, that is true for writing the books as well.  LOL  I started VIPER last year ('09) but shelved it after I started having my wrist issues.  In April, I decided to finish the book.  Finished it in two weeks.  May, I wrote SCARAB.  June/July I wrote FALCON.  July/August were the months of the SPIDER.  Now, I'm thinking August/Sept. I'll be wrapping up JACKAL.  I just cannot believe how fast these books have been written.  I decided to keep going with them as long as I was in the mood to write them.  I didn't want to get sidetracked by some other project and then never get back to the princes or not be motivated to write them, which happens after you abandon a series for awhile **cough**BEAST**cough

LOL

Anyway, I thought I would blog and let one and all know.  I have posted SPIDER's logline and blurb if you're interested.  I've also submitted SPIDER to the powers that be.  I have plotted out JACKAL, so we shall see how it pans out.  Exciting!

TOMORROW!!

Tomorrow, folks, you'll be able to visit the sweeping desert vistas of Jikkar, eat delectable bractav, and fall in love with THE VIPER PRINCE...

Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow, August 18th from Carnal Passions!!!

Also, I have finished THE SPIDER PRINCE.  I'm sooo jazzed for this book, you have no idea.  My two favorite princes are the Scarab and the Spider.  I honestly cannot decide which I like better.  Now, I need to write a logline, a blurb, and a synopsis for Spider before jumping in to THE JACKAL PRINCE!!

Carnal Passions has also bought Book III, THE FALCON PRINCE!  It will be released in December.  Looks like these books will be released every two months - Viper in August - Scarab in October - Falcon in December.  So perhaps you will read Spider in February.  We shall see...  :D

Update on SPIDER and a Decision

Well, THE SPIDER PRINCE is coming right along. I'm on page 178 and loving every minute of it. I think this one should be done fairly soon, if not by the end of the month.

I've also made a decision. Early on, I'd decided to only write four books in this series. I think I will actually write five. The final book will be for the Jackal. I figured people might wonder why I wasn't going to write his book. Well, it's because he's a young prince, coming to the throne when he's about 15, so to write his book, I'll have to age him, obviously. But it might be fun to see the other princes years after their HEA's and meet their families.

It would be odd to leave a perfectly good prince out of the series, so I'm not going to do it. Besides, it will give me something to look forward to after I write the Spider.

I really love this world I've created, probably more than any other worlds of my imagination. I love that each book brings it's own flavor to the table, even though it's still on Jikkar. And I'm not sure I want to be done with it after I write my princes. But what would I write??

I don't know. I know each tent city has a governor. It's possible I could write about them, but the titles wouldn't be as cool. THE PARRADH GOVERNOR... :P

Maybe I'll just leave the desert to the princes and call it a day. It will be bittersweet for me. I will LOVE to share them with you but hate to leave Jikkar behind. Perhaps I'll start a new series on this planet... The Goat Herders of Jikkar... LOL Just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? :P *snicker*

We shall see.

OMG!!

I just wrote a dark moment in THE SPIDER PRINCE that has me tearing up.  I won't spoil it for y'all, but I just had to get that off my chest.  The Spider is one messed up guy.  But we romance authors love redeeming messed up guys.  :P

Wow.  I can't believe he just DID that.  And in front of the whole caravan, too.  I know, I'm such a tease.

THE VIPER PRINCE is Coming August 18th!

Get ready, folks! Book I of my Desert Princes of Jikkar, THE VIPER PRINCE, is coming to Carnal Passions on August 18th.  I don't have a cover yet, but I'll be getting one in the next few days. I absolutely cannot WAIT!!

I love this series so much, that I hope you love it just as much as I do.  My princes are so much different than anything I've ever done, and in a mere six months, I've almost written the entire series.  But I open it with the Viper, one smokin' hot hottie!

QUOTE OF NOTE:

“Perhaps I must change your punishment. Perhaps you do not yet understand you must bow to my will.”

It's coming soon, folks.  Keep your eyes open!  You definitely do NOT want to miss Tariq Sayed, Viper Prince of the Golden Desert...

Wow, SPIDER is Writing Himself!

Hey everyone, been writing like mad on the fourth book in my Desert Princes story, THE SPIDER PRINCE. This one had practically been writing itself. I love this book so much! I'm already on page 75. Can you believe that?! Well, maybe not, considering how fast the others were written.

Man, I only have four planned books. Once this one is finished, what am I going to do with myself? LOL Been pondering writing a book for the Jackal Prince. I may or may not add a fifth book to this series, depending if I have a good plot for him. Oh who am I kidding? If I didn't write one for him, I'm pretty sure my fans would revolt. :P

Maybe this is an opportunity for fan fic? Heheheh....

I have finished FALCON!

THE FALCON PRINCE is finished! Woohoo!! This book is about 240 pages long and around 45K in length. A little shorter than the other two, but not by much.

I've even written the blurb, which went through many incarnations. :P If you'd like to read it, you can click on the FALCON page above, or click on this link:

http://desertprinces.blogspot.com/p/falcon-prince.html

Yeehaw, I'm just so excited to be done with it! Now, I need to write a synopsis, polish the manuscript, see if it needs editing and/or cutting and/or fluffage. Then it's onward to THE SPIDER PRINCE. Awesome. I've been brainstorming Spider's book like nobody's business. I'm not ashamed to say the Spider might just be my favorite prince...

:D

THE FALCON PRINCE is Almost Finished!

I have a few thousand words yet to go, but FALCON is almost finished. It's about that time to write a synopsis, blurb, and a logline for this one. It's going to be somewhat shorter than the previous two books that clocked in at 50K (VIPER) and 52K (SCARAB). Currently, FALCON is only 42K in comparison. Should be finished between 45-47K. I guess that's not too far behind the others. I'm not necessarily worrying that they all should be the same length rather than the same-ish length.

I've learned long ago not to force a story if it's only so many words long. We authors sometimes get caught up in making series books all the same length. (Or is that just me...? LOL) But in reality, readers don't care. As long as it's a good book, they'll snatch it up and read it.

So I will not obsess. Much. Heheh

I should get this one finished within the coming days. I'll most likely go back through it and edit it, either rewording some things, cutting others, or inserting scenes. Basically I write the bare bones project, then go through it and improve it before submission.

I must say I'm exceptionally pleased with this book, as I haven't given the Falcon or his heroine a nice easy road to their HEA. I think readers will be more interested to read the bumps and twists of their budding love rather than the scenes with the villain. Why? Well, because the Falcon was horribly scarred at one point in his life. He has scars all over him, and it's very hard for him to open up to anyone. Watching him slowly come out of his shell and finally succumb to the woman he loves is a very fulfilling read as well as very fulfilling to write. So we shall see how it reads once it's finished.

I'll keep you posted!

FALCON is on a Roll!

As you may or may not know, I have finished the first two books of this four book (possibly five book) series, VIPER and SCARAB. Now, I'm working on book III, THE FALCON PRINCE, and I'm on page 170 and 31K. These books are between 50-55K, so I'm bookin' to get it done.

FALCON is probably my most un-plotted of the bunch. I knew VIPER & SCARAB's plot, and I knew SPIDER's plot (book IV), but FALCON was a little hazy. I brainstormed his plot a bit about a week ago (when I was significantly further behind than I am now), but I decided to do something a little different, so I changed it from my original plan.

Seems to be working great because I'm booking through this book. In VIPER & SCARAB, I kind of got a free pass, because from word one, the hero and heroine knew each other and had a history. In FALCON, they know of each other, and they want to get to know each other better, but this is the first book where they actually learn what they like and what they don't like. Basically, the first book of the series that deals with falling in love from a spark of interest.

Don't get me wrong, the other books are hot and heavy, and you see their love evolve as well, but FALCON's story is more poignant. There's a lot of trust issues and baggage. Which in real life, is quite the pain, but makes for a good read. LOL So I'm hoping you'll like book III in this series just as much as the first two.

Now, VIPER is set to release on August 4th. SCARAB has been submitted, but I don't have a release date for that one (and not even a contract). I'm thinking it might be awhile until you get a chance to read FALCON and SPIDER. But let me tell you, all these books are so epically awesome, you don't even know. I have never written books this fast.

Well, let me rephrase that.

I have never written a series this fast before. Usually in a series, I finish one book and do another project to revamp my muse then move on to the second book and so on. Well, with this series, my muse has decided to write it all as if it were one long book. That is not to say you can't read these books on their own. You totally can. You'll get the big picture if you read them all (obviously) but they're their own contained stories.

Maybe it's the fact I'm having my surgery soon (July 16th) on my wrist. Just in case things go from bad to worse, I want to have these books behind me. As it is, I'll be working on SPIDER's book when my surgery comes, because let's face it, I'm writing FALCON so fast, it will be done in 4 weeks' time. I'll probably be a few thousand words into book IV by then. I started FALCON exactly two weeks ago. So yeah, another two weeks and it will be finished as well.

Very First Post!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my brand new blog, about the Desert Princes of Jikkar, my new series! These books follow four of the six princes in the Golden Desert.

The Viper Prince
The Scarab Prince
The Falcon Prince
The Spider Prince

Two of the princes are bad news. They are villains on Jikkar, and they are the Jackal Prince and the Cobra Prince.

I have written and finished both Viper and Scarab's books. Viper has been contracted by Carnal Passions! It is to be released on August 4th, 2010!! Scarab has been submitted, and I am currently almost 100 pages into Falcon. This series is hoppin', but I'm going to keep on writing for as long as the muse moves me.

I just love this series, it is so different and exotic than anything I have ever done, and writing them is a pure joy. I hope my joy is conveyed in the books, because I want my readers to love them just as much as I do!

Keep checking back, I'm hoping to update this blog often. Woohoo!!
